After the rich blooming of Summer Solstice (Litha) comes the first harvest Lughnasadh with wicker baskets filled with magickal herbs & resins, whilst the magickal cunning folk chant holy incantations & spells under the bough of the oak tree.
For the Southern Hemisphere is celebrated on the traditional date of 1st-2nd February. However, for the greener folk we celebrate with the harvest of our witches' gardens.
For the more astrologically minded kin, the cross-quarter celebration is when the Sun in Aquarius reaches 15 degrees thus signifying the exact celestial point between the summer solstice & autumn equinox. This Southern hemisphere Lughnasadh ☆ date varies each year however for 2025 it falls on 4th February.
We gather together to acknowledge our achievements, prosperities & successes of the past seasonal cycle. Sometimes not all of our projects have reached culmination, and it is time to find peace within & without in all relationships.
This is symbolically a time of great patience, as nature goes through her cycles of sacrifice & change with the old ways.

As the Sun’s strength begins to wane, we reflect on the power & solar vitality that helped make the harvest successful & abundant. As always when the light fades, something new is birthed in the shadows of the dark.
Much love from the deep wild woods …
